Question: Blackberry for a child?

Answer #1:

Christmas is some time away... I'd think you've got plenty of time for it...

Anyway, You can check with verizon to see if there's a cheaper data package you can get, give them a call or goto a store and ask them. tell them it's for a little girl and you don't want that big of a data package for her...

they've probably got something smaller for a package, but don't advertize it because they want people to get the bigger one's...

Good luck!

Answer #3:

The BlackBerry Pearl 3180 is a very old phone...there are plenty of newer phones that she should look into. Personally, I think having a BlackBerry as a 12-year-old is ridiculous, especially since they're supposed to be business phones. Think of the distractions that a Smartphone can pose for a pre-pubescent girl.

It's great that she wants to pay for her phone, but how many times have you heard the classic, "I PROMISE" line that never got fulfilled. My friends younger sister is 16-years-old and has a BlackBerry that she was supposed to pay for and has not paid a cent for.

I'm a college student, and I love my BlackBerry, but it actually serves a purpose and I pay for it. I know how to channel my distractions and stay focused. However, I am 20-years-old; a young adult.
